
Garut, Indonesia Institute of Education (IPI) Garut with Indonesia University of Education (UPI) Bandung establish strategic collaboration in activities dissemination of the microcredential program of international standard, with the theme "Goes Local, Impacts Global", this activity becomes part of efforts to strengthen microcredential literacy within higher education of Indonesia, particularly in the region.
This program aims to expand the understanding and utilization of microcredential certification as a form of recognition for specific competencies, based on global industry needs, and relevant to the current digital workforce. The collaboration between IPI Garut and UPI Bandung serves as a crucial bridge in providing access to international learning that inclusive and adaptive, particularly for students and lecturers in the region.
This dissemination activity involved workshops, panel discussions, and presentations of best practices by participants who have completed microcredential programs through various global platforms such as Coursera, edX, and FutureLearn.
The Rector of IPI Garut stated that this collaboration is a concrete step in broadening the horizons of technology-based higher education internationalization. “Microcredentials serve as a bridge between academia and the global industry. Through this collaboration, we aim for students and lecturers in the region to experience benefits on par with those offered by leading universities worldwide,” he said.
Meanwhile, UPI Bandung emphasized the importance of synergy between higher education institutions to strengthen the competitiveness of Indonesia’s human resources in the era of digital transformation.

This collaboration is expected to become a model of inter-university partnership in successfully implementing the Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka (MBKM) program and create broader opportunities for cross-institutional and international knowledge exchange.
